Mission statement
Avonbourne 6th Form is a unique, inspiring and caring place to learn. We develop students as aspirational and enterprising life-long learners. They will leave us as active 21st century global citizens.
Your studies
You will be able to choose from a wide variety of A level subjects delivered by dedicated, highly qualified specialist staff, in our brand new 6th Form building and other specialist rooms. Additional A level courses not delivered on our site are offered on the Lansdowne campus of Bournemouth & Poole College. Daily transport facilities are provided to enable students to attend lectures on both sites, and your timetable will be coordinated to allow for this to happen.
Your timetable will contain set lectures, workshops and tutorials between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Where you have a blank session at the beginning or end of the day, you can spend this time studying at home.
Your future
Your teachers will guide your academic performance to enable you to reach your potential. We will help prepare you for the next phase of your educational journey, be it applying to universities through UCAS or looking for employment.
You will have a happy and productive two years with us and Avonbourne’s 6th Form staff will strive to ensure you maximise your potential and achieve your very best.
Your needs
We feel strongly that a caring and supportive environment is vital to enable you to fulfil your potential. You will have a personal tutor who will provide advice and support for any questions or concerns you may have to ensure you get the best from your education and to support your future plans. It doesn’t matter what the question is, we will have the answer that is right for you and your future!
Whilst studying is vital, it is also important to be involved in the life of the school community, which is why there will be a variety of activities on offer including sports, music, drama and social events. Whatever you enjoy doing we feel sure there will be an activity to suit you. Don’t forget it is also a great way to develop other skills and make new friends!
