Year 10 Take Maths Further ... !

On Wednesday 25th June 2008 two Maths staff and around a dozen Year 10 Maths students attended the 'Take Maths Further' event, organised by the Dorset Further Maths Centre, at the Lighthouse, Poole.  More than 230 Year 10 pupils and staff from ten schools across the county attended a series of sessions including ‘Patterns Fail, But Proofs are Forever’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass, Again & Again’, all designed to give students a flavour of Mathematics beyond the GCSE curriculum. Speakers from the Royal Institution, Universities of Oxford, Plymouth and Wolverhampton and from industry all presented excellent talks and activities designed to show students how Maths could take them further. Overall the day was a huge success, enjoyed thoroughly by staff and students alike!

Great news ... !

Congratulations to Year 10 students!! In the recent Maths GCSE Module 1 exams no fewer than 11 achieved an A* and 26 a grade A. Overall 63% achieved grade C or better - a record for this school! Well done to all concerned!
