Business, Administration and Finance (BAF)
The Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance (BAF) is a brand new qualification that provides an exciting programme of learning for young people of all abilities. It aims to offer 14 - 19 learners the chance to develop the attributes needed to succeed in business, or progress to higher education.
Year 10 Business Studies students recently took part in a Dragon’s Den competition. The event was organised by Bournemouth & Poole’s Business & Finance Diploma team, led by Avonbourne School, to explore ways of working in preparation for delivery of the new qualification in 2010. Teams from several schools, including Portchester, Corfe Hills, Ashdown, The College and Poole High turned up to learn from local business people in a series of workshops. LV, Rias, NATS, Paragon and Marketingmad.com were all there and each workshop was designed to be interactive and address a number of BAF themes from sales and marketing, through to budgeting and finance.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day out and were a credit to the school, throwing themselves into each task with the gusto
and determination one expects from the students of an International Business & Enterprise College. They were a credit to the school and narrowly missed out on winning the Dragon’s Den competition itself.
