KS4 information

GCSE Catering
This is a very popular option. Students are expected to wear whites, apron and a hat for each session, with hair tied up and no jewellery or nail varnish. A serving dish/plate should be provided for every practical session.

Students are taught to extend their skills across all areas of food preparation. We generally begin with starters and hors d oeuvres and move onto main courses and desserts.

Each term the students are presented with a challenge which leads to the award of a challenge trophy. These are judged, where possible, by members of the hospitality and catering industry in Bournemouth.

Students also have the opportunity to be involved in a range of local and regional competitions as well as catering for various events in school.
