BIMA Entry
A group of year 8 students are starting a community based ICT project. They have booked our new Creative Technology Suite for 23rd April this year to host an afternoon launch event for would be "Silver Surfers" to help combat the digital divide. The school has a 3 D floor to ceiling screen with the big yellow glasses for viewing media, so it will be quite an experience for our local OAP’s. The students plan is to ease OAP’s into using new technologies and provide support during the summer term after school on Tuesday each week. We are very fortunate to have the offer of some expert input from Redweb.com.
The students are going to be thinking about ways to bridge the gap in an e-learning way. They are going to research what deters the older generation and what aspects of the Internet they want to participate in. Then the students plan to produce some ideas around ways to engage and train specifically to these needs.
